Domestic violence is defined as a "continuum of abusive behavior
which includes verbal/emotional abuse (name-calling, blaming, yelling, threats and
intimidation) and physical abuse (pushing, grabbing, throwing objects, hitting and
beating) committed against a person by a partner, relative, or other person well known to
the victim" (Tuscon United Against Domestic Violence, 1995). However, it does
not say that the abuser is always male. Domestic violence can be committed by a
woman against another woman. Lesbian Domestic Violence (LDV) is a growing problem
today.
